Today (27 November), the European election co-operation network meets for the fifth time since its launch in January 2019, as part of the broader measures initiated by the European Commission in the run-up to the European Parliament elections.

Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Commissioner Věra Jourová said: “The European network has evolved into a valuable platform for our common efforts to protect democracy across our Union. We are counting on member states' sustained engagement as we jointly drive this agenda forward.”

This exchange between EU institutions and EU member states will set the course for the network in the upcoming years towards further operationalising its work, encouraging continued joint efforts in strengthening transparency and cyber security, and addressing disinformation.

Participants will also address how to approach social media platforms and deliver on transparency commitments, conducting risk assessments and awareness raising. Members of the network will also participate in the first experts' meeting of the EU-US expert-level dialogue on resilience of electoral systems also taking place today.

Finally, the group will also discuss contributions to the implementation of the priorities of the incoming Commission, including in the context of the European Democracy Action Plan.

The conclusions of today's meeting will be published here.
