Mergers: Commission clears acquisition of joint control over #ArdourAutomotive by #Mahindra and Mahindra and Ford Motor Company

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control over Ardour Automotive Private Limited of India by Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (“M&M”) of India and Ford Motor Company (“FMC”) of the US.Ardour Automotive will design, engineer, test, manufacture, market, sell, distribute and export passenger vehicles as well as replacement and service parts, components and assemblies for such vehicles. M&M is the parent company of the Mahindra Group, which is active in various sectors including automotive and automotive aftermarket.

FMC is the parent company of the Ford Group which designs, manufactures, markets and services a full line of Ford cars, trucks, SUVs, electrified vehicles and Lincoln luxury vehicles, provides financial services through Ford Motor Credit Company and is also active in electrification, autonomous vehicles and mobility solutions. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because Ardour Automotive will have no, or negligible, activities in the European Economic Area. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
