COVID-19 vaccines: Contract between the European Commission and Sanofi-GSK now published
On 9 February, the pharmaceutical company Sanofi-GSK has agreed to publish the redacted contract signed with the Commission on 18 September 2020. The Commission welcomes the company's commitment towards more transparency in its participation in the roll-out of the EU Vaccines Strategy. Transparency and accountability are important to help build the trust of European citizens and to make sure that they can rely on the effectiveness and safety of the vaccines purchased at the EU level.
The contract published contains redacted parts pertaining to confidential information. The Sanofi-GSK contract is the third one to be published, after CureVac and AstraZeneca agreed to publish their Advance Purchase Agreement with the European Commission. The Commission is working with companies in view of publishing all contracts under the Advance Purchase Agreements in the near future.
