#Glyphosate found in popular lunch foods

New test results obtained by Moms Across America, show the presence of glyphosate, the declared active chemical in Monsanto’s Roundup to be contaminating American foods commonly found in our lunches.
Many of the foods are expected to be healthy, wholesome, and relaxing. Batch testing of popular almond milks, various breads including organic, gluten free, white, and whole wheat breads and vegetarian burgers all had disturbing levels of glyphosate herbicide. Individual brand tests of Skippy’s '100% Natural' peanut butter and Lipton’s '100% Natural' Green tea were also high in glyphosate herbicides and its breakdown AMPA.
Levels of glyphosate found in batch testing were from 0.87 ppb of glyphosate and AMPA (effective glyphosate) in conventional almond milks, up to 140.98 ppb in conventional whole wheat breads, 52.20 pb in conventional veggie burgers. Low levels were also found in gluten free and organic samples. Individual testing revealed 11.71 ppb in “100% Skippy’s Natural Peanut Butter”, and 208.29 ppb in “100% Natural” Lipton Green Tea.
Between .1 parts per billion and 1 parts per trillion have been shown to cause neurotoxicity, liver disease and endocrine disruption harm, which could lead to miscarriage, birth defects, infertility, sterility and increase Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer rates by 50%. 100 parts per billion (0.1 ppm) has shown to destroy gut bacteria, which is the stronghold of our immune system, and promote pathogenic gut bacteria, which can lead to inflammation, behavioural and learning disorders. Glyphosate can bioaccumulate, so any amount consumed is harmful.
These findings in “100% Natural” foods widely considered healthy are particularly disturbing because health conscious people are spending far more money to be “healthy” and are yet eating proven harmful herbicides.
The test results are directly contrary to what nutritionists and the media have been promoting - for example that conventional tea is healthy and that whole wheat breads are healthier than white breads. This would be true if they were not sprayed with glyphosate. Now we know conventional whole wheat bread is likely to have much higher levels of glyphosate residues due to the fact that glyphosate is sprayed on wheat as a drying agent and the hulls on whole wheat would retain those residues. The processing of white bread means that the hulls, and therefore much of the glyphosate residues, would be removed.
Austria and Germany have restricted the practice of spraying glyphosate as a drying agent more than 4 years ago, but US and Canadian farmers continue this practice because chemical company representatives have told the farmers that this herbicide is safe when used as directed.
Any amount of glyphosate does not wash, dry, or cook off, instead it absorbs into the crop. Since glyphosate is being found to be present in natural tea and these other foods, it is likely that other toxins, such as arsenic and heavy metals, are also present, as a recent study by Seralini and team showed these known poisons to be found in all of the glyphosate herbicides tested.
The CA EPA Office of Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) placed glyphosate on the Prop 65 carcinogen list on July of 2017 and by July 2018 food manufacturers will know if they will need to label their products which contain glyphosate with a cancer warning label.
It is misleading for any food product to be labeled with “100% Natural” and to contain glyphosate herbicide, which has been proven to be neurotoxic, cause liver disease and endocrine disruption at ultra-low levels and to be probably carcinogenic. It is harmful to all consumers that any of our foods contain any amount of glyphosate. Chemicals that cause these health issues are not natural, they are an assault on our body. The food that we pack in our children’s lunches, tea we give to our elderly and friends, and food we give to our family should nourish and support our health, not destroy it.
