Jo Leinen: #EU should not accept new US-Ambassador
“The European Union should refuse to accredit the designated US Ambassador to the EU, Ted Malloch”, says Jo Leinen (S&D), Member of the Foreign Affairs committee in the European Parliament. Ted Malloch‘s latest remarks about the EU show he is unfit for the job.
“What we don’t need now is an obstructionist who dreams of the end of the Euro and of taming and wrestling down the EU like he allegedly did with the Soviet Union”, says Leinen.
At the EU Summit in Malta this Friday, the Heads of State and Government should draw up a strategy of how to deal with the Trump administration, says Leinen.
“The values and interests of the EU must be defended against Trump and members of his administration. Trump is a test case for the unity of the EU and our capacity to defend international rules and values, be they human rights or economic relations”, says Leinen.
