Webinar to boost EU-Eastern Partnership Research and Innovation Cooperation

The European Commission, in co-operation with the implementing partner Global Service Facility, organized a webinar for policy makers, researchers and innovators from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The goal of the webinar was to boost the participation of these Eastern Partnership Partner countries in Horizon Europe, the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
Over 180 participants from universities, research centres, innovative startups, in addition to other R&I actors from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine alongside R&I stakeholders from EU Member States participated.
More specifically, the webinar
- presented the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026–2027, with a focus on funding opportunities relevant for the EaP Partner countries
- highlighted thematic areas and funding instruments of particular strategic importance for the region, for example Artificial Intelligence in science
- presented specific R&I funding opportunities for Ukraine in the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026–2027
- introduced the European Innovation Council (EIC) Work Programme 2026, with emphasis on instruments accessible to widening countries
- facilitated exchanges and networking among R&I stakeholders from the EaP region and EU member states
