Türkiye's banking sector and the EU: Challenges and opportunities

At a lunch debate held in the Member's Salon at the European Parliament, politicians, ambassadors, business leaders and guests debated the challenges and opportunities the digital economy presents to both Türkiye and the European Union.

Mr Ozan GULHAN, General Manager of Bank Positiv, Türkiye explained how his country has been advancing its financial system according to the European rules, namely the Basel regulations. He explained the remaining various challenges for the Turkish banking sector.

After a welcome address by Mr Adrian-George AXINA, MEP, Head of the Romanian Delegation, ECR Group and a speech by Mr Claudiu-Richard TARZIU, MEP, Member of the Delegation to the EU-TürkiyeParliamentary Committee the meeting welcomed HE Ambassador Faruk KAYMAKCI, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the EU.

HE Ambassador Faruk KAYMAKCI, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the EU, expanded on the benefits of allowing Türkiye to become a full member of the EU.
