040314_fac_ukraineHigh Representative/Vice President Catherine Ashton has convened an Extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council meeting taking place tomorrow (15August), in Brussels. Ministers will discuss the situation in the Southern neighbourhood (notably Iraq) and the Eastern neighbourhood (Ukraine).

The FAC meeting is preceded by a background briefing today at 13h CET in the Justus Lipsius building of the Council of the EU.

A press conference will take place following the meeting tomorrow, also in the Justus Lipsius building of the Council of the EU, and will be broadcast via EBS .

GDP stable in the eurozone and up by 0.2% in the EU28. +0.7% and +1.2% respectively compared with the second quarter of 2013.

Seasonally adjusted GDP remained stable in the eurozone and rose by 0.2% in the EU28 during the second quarter of 2014, compared with the previous quarter, according to flash estimates2 published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In the first quarter of 2014, GDP grew by 0.2% in the eurozone and by 0.3% in the EU-28. Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 0.7% in the eurozone and by 1.2% in the EU-28 in the second quarter of 2014, after +0.9% and +1.4% respectively in the previous quarter.
