(full invitation here). This workshop is organized with the Observatory’s partners and authors of the report, Nevafilm, Movie Research (Univers-Consulting) and iKS-Consulting. The report represents the Observatory’s fourth collaboration with Nevafilm, who have already produced three reports on the Russian film industry for the Observatory. Susanne Nikoltchev, Executive Director of the Observatory stated: “Russia figures amongst the “big five” film markets in Europe. Film professionals want reference data on this rapidly growing market and our partnership with Nevafilm allows us to produce this market intelligence which the industry needs.” She added that the Observatory’s annual Moscow conference had become a “must attend Russian Rendez-Vous” in the European film calendar.

The workshop will be opened by Vladimir Grigoriev, deputy head of the Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications and representative of the Russian Federation in the Executive Council of the European Audiovisual Observatory.

The new report The Film Industry in the Russian Federation will be presented by Oleg Berezin and Xenia Leontyeva of Nevafilm, Aleksander Luzhin of Movie Research (Univers-Consulting), and Ekaterina Makarevich of iKS-Consulting.

Recent trends of the European film market will be presented by André Lange, Head of the Observatory’s Department for Information on markets and Financing. Legal obligations for distributors and providers of on-demand audiovisual services to contribute to production will be analysed by Maja Cappello, Head of the Observatory’s Department for Legal Information.
