Fresh British and Ukrainian artistic talent discovered

An unusual art competition called 'UK/RAINE' for young artists has revealed a wealth of new artistic talent from the UK and Ukraine. The open cross-cultural competition is awarding £75,000 in prize money for emerging artists from the two countries. 30 artists have been shortlisted and their works will be exhibited in a month-long exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London from 24 November.

There are 5 categories in the competition including painting, sculpture, street art, new media and installations, which can be viewed online. A winner from each of the categories and an overall winner of the competition will be selected by a panel of international judges. Each of the category winners will receive £10,000 with the overall winner of the prize receiving a further £20,000.

All winners will be announced at the exhibitions launch and a VIP private view in London on 23 November.

The competition, which is sponsored by the Firtash Foundation and the Saatchi Gallery received a huge amount of entries - over 10,000 entries by over 2,000 artists from across the whole of UK and Ukraine.

This unusual art competition has attracted a huge variety and volume of work from young hopefuls, and is a tremendous credit to the creative and cultural talent of young people from both countries.
