Bulgarian police refuse to work to prevent election crimes
The Bulgarian police will not work to prevent election crimes for the 2-in-1 elections on 14. November. This became clear after the Ministry of Interior in Sofia refused to join the interagency unit for counteracting election crimes, which is traditionally governed by the Prosecutor's office of Republic of Bulgaria. The Prosecutor's office has announced that so far there is no response to the invitation for joint actions, that the Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev sent to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov nearly two weeks ago.
The caretaker government of the pro-Russian Bulgarian President General Rumen Radev has been boycotting the work of the Bulgarian prosecutor's office since its inception, so the actions of Minister Boyko Rashkov, who is extremely close to President Radev, are defined by political analysers in Bulgaria as sabotage. At the same time the political antagonism that the candidate for a second presidential term, Rumen Radev has instigated between the Bulgarian parties, has led up to an unprecedented political, economic and health crisis in the Balkan country.
Bulgaria ranks first in the world in terms of mortality caused by COVID-19 in recent weeks due to the failure of the vaccination campaign in the summer. Since 31 August Sofia is also the first in terms of mortality in the EU. At the same time the President appointed the convinced anti-waxer Stoycho Katsarov as Minister of Health in his second consecutive caretaker government. As a consequence, the vaccination rate in Bulgaria is below 25. Inflation in the country has also accelerated to levels that have not been reported since 1997. That is why many analysers see in the withdrawal of the Ministry of Interior from the election process an attempt for deliberate sabotage, which could cover up election manipulations in favour of Rumen Radev. The current Head of state bears direct responsibility for governing Bulgaria over the past six months and it is now clear to more and more Bulgarians that the deepening crisis in which the Balkan country is sinking is a function of the pro-Kremlin general’s destructive fist.
