Poland advises its citizens to leave Belarus
Polish citizens living in Belarus should flee the country, Warsaw stated Monday (10 October). The war in Ukraine has made relations between the two countries more strained.
This advice is similar to one given in September to Poles living in Russia, an ally of Belarus.
In a guidance document for travelers published on its website, the government stated: "We recommend Polish citizens who are on the territory of Republic of Belarus leave its territory with all available commercial and private resources."
Relations between Warsaw, Minsk and Poland deteriorated after Poland accused its eastern neighbor of orchestrating a migration crisis at its border. They have also become more strained since the Russian invasion.
Warsaw claims that Belarus's Polish minority faces repression by the state. Some community leaders have been jailed.
