Choose who's in charge: live TV debate with candidates for next Commission President
The European elections are approaching fast: time to consider who should be in charge in Europe. An opportunity to gauge the candidates for the position of the next president of the European Commission presents itself on 15 May, when they will take part in the Eurovision debate, broadcast on TV and online. Be part of the conversation by commenting on social media using the hashtag #TellEUROPE.
The 90-minute showdown takes place in Brussels on Thursday 15 May from 21h CEST and is organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and hosted by the European Parliament. The event will be broadcast live by about 50 TV channels from around Europe and also streamed online. Watch it live online here.
For the first time all candidates for the Presidency of the Commission will be present: Jean-Claude Juncker of the European Peoples’ Party: Martin Schulz, of theEuropean Socialists, Guy Verhofstadt of the Liberals and Democrats; Ska Keller of the European Greens and Alexis Tsipras of the European Left.

In addition the new Commission will have to receive the Parliament's approval before it is able to take up its duties. To find out more about the process, check out an infographic on the election of the next Commission President here.

The debate will be broadcast live in the UK by BBC Parliament (TV) and Caledonia Media (radio). In Ireland it will be broadcast by RTE News Now (television) and online on www.rte.ie.
