#Brexit: Manfred Weber to EU leaders - 'Don’t risk a 'No' in the European Parliament on final agreement'
“Priority must be given to humanitarian assistance to civilians. Europe must act to help the women and children in Aleppo”, said Manfred Weber MEP (pictured), chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, commenting on the results of the European Council of 15 December.
“Aleppo is still hell on earth. Europe must speak with one clear voice. This is also why the EPP Group welcomes the unity shown by EU leaders on the extension of the sanctions to Russia and on the need to strengthen European defence capacities. This is crucial in these uncertain times,” continued Weber.
Finally, regarding the upcoming Brexit negotiations, Weber said: “The European Parliament should be fully involved in the negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom on Brexit. The European Parliament will have the last word on the Brexit agreement. We call on EU leaders not to risk a 'No' from the European Parliament on the final outcome of the negotiations. The European Parliament should therefore sit at the negotiating table from the start.”
