Parliament this week: EU budget, climate law and #COVID-19
On Friday, the environment and public health committee will vote on proposals to make the EU climate-neutral by 2050 with a legally binding law and setting an interim target for 2030. On Monday (7 September), the committee debated how to ensure equitable access to affordable and safe COVID-19 vaccines for everyone who needs them.
Also on Monday, the regional development committee voted on the proposed REACT-EU package. The package includes €55 billion of additional funds to be made available to EU countries. The money should provide assistance for dealing with the impact of the crisis and preparing a green, digital and resilient recovery of the economy. On the same day, the human rights subcommittee debated the situation in Belarus following the disputed presidential elections on 9 August.
