In a statement released today, 15th May, Huawei Europe said: “Huawei is the unrivalled leader in 5G. We are ready and willing to engage with the US government, and come up with effective measures to ensure product security. Restricting Huawei doing business in the US will not make the US more secure or stronger. Instead, this will serve only to limit the US to inferior, yet more expensive, alternatives, leaving the US lagging behind in 5G deployment, and eventually harming the interests of US companies and consumers.

Given the important need for global cooperation and for integrative solutions in the field of ICT globally, Huawei will continue to foster close relationships with European countries and carriers as a key partner to Europe's digital transformation.

We remain committed to the EU, and aim to foster dialogue and to bring stakeholders together on relevant digital issues. On 21 May, we will host an event at the Huawei Cybersecurity Centre where we will directly address the decision made by the US government alongside other key issues surrounding the deployment of 5G in Europe. You can find more information about the event here and RSVP to [email protected].
