#Brexit: Wales wants ‘full and unfettered access to the single market’ #JMC
Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales, called on Prime Minister Theresa May to secure unfettered access to the single market at today’s (24 October) Joint Ministerial Committee of the devolved administrations.
Jones welcomed the fact that the UK government has conceded to demands of the devolved administrations to meet more frequently and to have a meaningful role in developing the future work programme relating to Brexit.
There is still great uncertainty from the Prime Minister on “what success will look like” in the negotiations. Jones said that this made it difficult for devolved administrations to positively influence the process”.
On a harsher note, Jones claimed that if the UK could not negotiate with its own devolved nations, there was little hope of a good negotiation at a European level.
If UK Gov can’t negotiate position with devolved nations little hope of negotiating a good #Brexit deal with 27 countries #JMC 3/3
