'Huge rock' crushes holiday rooms on Greek island of Crete, killing one
Police said that a "huge rock" fell off a hillside, crushing two rooms in a hotel on the Greek island of Crete. It also killed one woman from Slovenia as she slept, and injured her young son.
The Markos Studios was the location of the landslip, which occurred in the early hours Sunday morning. It is a family-run complex with rooms for rent on the beach that is located under a rocky hillside at Ierapetra.
Two rooms were destroyed by the rock, according to police. Police said the rock had destroyed two rooms. The victim's 51 year-old husband was in another room and was not hurt.
The debris buried the 47-year old woman and her eight-year-old child.
After an hour of digging through rubble, 50 firefighters raced to the rescue. The boy's mother died.
The family was due to leave Sunday.
