Italy reports 75,020 coronavirus cases on Thursday, 166 deaths

Italy has reported 75,020 COVID-19-related cases Thursday, compared to 99,848 on Wednesday, according to the health ministry. The daily death rate fell from 205 to 166, however.

Since February 2020, Italy has seen 162,264 deaths related to COVID-19. This is the second-highest death toll in Europe and eighth in the world. To date, the country has reported 15.93 million cases.

The number of patients in hospitals with COVID-19, not including intensive care, reached 10,231 on Thursday. This is an increase from 10,207 the day before.

On Wednesday, there were 40 new admissions into intensive care units. This is down from 44. There were 415 more intensive care patients than there were previously, an increase of 413.

The health ministry reported that 446,180 COVID-19 tests were performed in the last day, as compared to a previous 610,000.
