Italy's Draghi backs large investments in gas infrastructure in developing countries

Large investment in gas infrastructure in developing countries is needed, Mario Draghi, the Italian Prime Minister, stated as leaders of Group of Seven rich democracies revealed projects on infrastructure and energy financing on Sunday (26 June).

"It is clear that we will have short-term requirements in the current situation that will require large investments into gas infrastructure in developing countries," Draghi stated during a joint statement with G7 leaders.

He said that it should be possible for such infrastructure to be converted to hydrogen to meet "short-term needs and long-term climate needs".
