Nusuk surpasses 40 million users: A milestone for digital pilgrimage
Just twelve months ago, Nusuk counted some 12 million users. Today, the Saudi-developed platform boasts more than 40 million registered users from 190 countries, marking one of the most rapid expansions in the global digital travel sector, writes Seleman Yusuph Kitenge.
Behind the headline figure lies a transformative shift in how Muslims plan and experience the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. More than 90% of users now come from outside the Kingdom, underscoring Nusuk’s growing role as an international gateway to Hajj and Umrah—making the sacred journeys more accessible than ever before.
For the uninitiated, Nusuk is far more than a booking app. It is a comprehensive digital ecosystem that allows users to arrange every aspect of their pilgrimage—from Umrah permits and Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah visits to hotel bookings, Haramain train tickets, and flights—all within a single, streamlined platform. Complementing these logistics are spiritual tools, including Qur’an access, prayer times, daily athkar, and Qibla direction, designed to support faith and focus whether one is in Makkah or abroad.
Such momentum is the product of sustained innovation and coordination. Developed by Elm Company, a leading Saudi technology firm, Nusuk operates with the backing of multiple government entities aiming to integrate faith, technology, and tourism under Vision 2030’s digital transformation agenda.
The platform’s developers are already looking ahead. A fully redesigned version of Nusuk—promising greater speed, intuitive navigation, and enhanced accessibility—is currently in development.
Reaching 40 million users is a significant milestone, but not the destination. Nusuk is steadily positioning itself as the world’s leading digital hub for Muslims, bridging daily spiritual life and the experience of pilgrimage in a seamlessly connected way—symbolising a new era where faith and technology walk hand in hand.
