Seventh body found in river after bus accident in Spain

Seven bodies have been found in northwestern Spain following a crash between a bus and a bridge. The vehicle then plunged into the river.

Jose Minones (Spanish representative in Galicia), told reporters that the remains were found downstream by a rescue helicopter.

On Monday (26 December), search and rescue efforts were resumed after a missing person report was filed by the victim's child two days following the accident.

The operation was previously completed by authorities after six bodies were recovered and two survivors were rescued. Authorities believed that there were eight people aboard the bus at the time it crashed based on information from relatives of the victims.

The weekend's total count was unclear due to discrepancies between the testimony of the driver (63 years old), who survived the fall with minor injuries. He was pulled from the river by firefighters with the female passenger, who is still in hospital.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated on Twitter that he was appalled by the "tragic accident", offered condolences for the families and wished the injured speedy recovery.
