Investment Plan: First #EIB financing of #SolarEnergy project in #Poland
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed on 27 May its first loan to a company building and running solar energy plants in Poland. The EU bank will lend PLN 82 million (around €18m) to Energy Solar Projekty sp.zo.o. for the construction and operation of 66 small-scale, independent photovoltaic plants.
The plants are expected to generate around 65.6 MW, enough energy to supply 19,000 households, and help reduce 47,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. The financing deal is guaranteed by the European Fund for Strategic Investments. Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni said: “The financing agreement signed today to build these solar energy plants is excellent news both for Poland's economy and its environment. The European Green Deal will be at the heart of our efforts to rebuild our economies after the coronavirus pandemic and Poland should continue to make use of all the EU support on offer.”
The press release is available here. As of April 2020, the Investment Plan for Europe has mobilised €478.4 billion of investment across the EU, including €21 billion in Poland, and supported 1.17 million start-ups and small and medium businesses.
