ECOFIN, Economic and Financial Affairs Council: Greek Presidency to present its six-month work programme on economic and financial matters; briefing from the European Central Bank(ECB) on the implementation of the single supervisory mechanism; an exchange on the implementation of the compact for growth and jobs; and, adoption of a decision on the excessive deficit of Croatia.
BUSINESSEUROPE Day – Trade, industrial policy and energy will be discussed.
Wednesday 29 January
European Commission to propose Structural reform measures on the EU banking sector which aim at ensuring that banks do not remain or become too-big, too-complex or too-interconnected to fail.
Thursday 30 January
New Commission proposal for a new food distribution school scheme aims at addressing the current decline in children's consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables and milk, and poor nutrition, as well as to combat persistent obesity.
European Parliament debates: ECON vote on draft resolution on Annual Growth Suvey for 2014, an amendment to the Directive on VAT with regard to the standard VAT return and a resolution on enhancing the coherence of EU financial services legislation; TRAN vote on the implementation of the Single European Sky and air traffic management; LIBE consideration of amendments to the US NSA surveillance programme report and the report on a European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
