He ensured peace and unity at a crucial time for his country, and managed to bring forward internal reforms while tracing out the European path for Spain.

"I wish Prince of Asturias success for his reign. I am confident that he will be a beacon of cohesion and trust, keeping Spain's commitment to a strong European Union. He will be a highly regarded voice in the world. "
